The sleek catharsis of golden-age EDM is alive. Since we commissioned Frost Children (siblings Angel & Lulu Prost) to make this pack in 2023 they have released 3 albums, and been on pretty much perpetual world tour. In these two short years they’ve managed to cover it all: electro, emo, indie rock, pure pop, but their latest album ‘SISTER’ is a return to the sounds that first moved them, boldly revitalizing the EDM era in their most forthright and full-bodied identity statement yet. As Lulu puts it, “This is so confidently what we love, and what we breathe.”‘SISTERSTEP’ is a cross-section of SISTER’s sonic identity: the technical formulas of the 2010s festival EDM arms race deconstructed and rebuilt for raw emotion. In a world where cheap revival can be an aesthetic shield, there is a sincerity in the duo’s mainstage homage that goes much deeper than a trend cycle. Moombahton, big room, and progressive trance serve as reference points but don’t dictate the thesis. Sentimental synth melodies, belligerent basses, vocal chops as strong as hooks…every sound here is undeniably catchy and echoes with the reverence and refinement of two formidable artists crafting exactly what they want to hear. “We’ve built these sounds so that dance music can sound truly alive.”
